ABOUT ME

My name is Barry M. Cohen. I reside in Frisco; Texas and am a digital artist creating digital art on the computer.

Barry M. Cohen

Using a very sophisticated software program, I reproduce the original photograph, brush stroke by brush stroke working with a stylus instead of a conventional paint brush. When the file is finished, I print onto Artist’s Gallery wrapped canvas or Fine Art Paper to the requested size. Mastering this 21st century art form has given me the ability to produce a very photorealistic piece true to your pet’s image. I can change color balance, density, contrast, tone and saturation, as well as being able to remove objectionable items such as collars and leashes and distracting background objects. Some of my clients prefer a formal background instead of the natural scene where they photographed their pet. The natural background can be stripped away and an Old Masters painted style background can be substituted instead

Me and my “really big” camera If you want to take big pictures, you need a BIG camera!

Making a composite is always an option, where you can photograph each pet separately to get the perfect pose, and then I will reassemble these images together into a final perfect composition. In this way, a perfect base for the painting can be made. Just like kids, we know several dogs will never sit perfectly together. (Well, actually sometimes they do.)

Back when I was young! I only aged a little

With a mastery of Photoshop gained over many years, I can use this fantastic program to create an image that you will adore.

The next step is the painting process. I call this “Painting with Pixels.” The program that I use is Corel Painter 2018. This program makes Photoshop look like a “walk in the park. Every art media imaginable lies within, just waiting for me to pick up a brush!

Me at age 18.
This is where it all started, as an apprentice photographer, and yes, that was the camera we used.
